ABOUT KIWI123

Maths mysteries,
made in Aotearoa πŸ₯

Whodunit maths activities for tamariki in Years 0–8 β€” built on the refreshed NZ maths curriculum used in New Zealand schools.

πŸ”Ž

Kia ora! Kiwi123 is a New Zealand website of maths mysteries for tamariki in Years 0–8. Every mystery is a whodunit maths activity: children read the clues, crack the numbers, rule out suspects one by one, and catch the culprit. The maths practice is the detective work.

Why mysteries?

Getting good at maths takes a lot of practice β€” and practice sticks when children want to do it. A mystery gives every question a purpose. Your child isn't just working out 7 Γ— 8 because a worksheet asked them to; they're working it out because it's evidence, and there's a culprit to catch. Five correct clues rule out a suspect. Solve them all and the case is closed β€” ka pai, detective!

πŸ₯ Made in Aotearoa

Kiwi123 is built in New Zealand by Kiwiland Education, for New Zealand classrooms and whānau. The stories are set here β€” maraes and beaches, kΕ«mara gardens and kea β€” and the maths follows the curriculum used in NZ schools.

Built on the refreshed NZ maths curriculum

Everything on Kiwi123 follows the refreshed New Zealand Mathematics & Statistics curriculum β€” the year-by-year teaching sequence now used in every NZ school. It covers Years 0–8 across three phases:

Every mystery targets one focus skill from this sequence β€” times tables, place value, fractions and so on β€” pitched at a specific year level, so children practise exactly what their class is learning. You can see the whole sequence, year by year, on our curriculum page.

What we care about

Free to try, simple to subscribe

The first mysteries in every year are free, so you can see exactly how it works. A subscription unlocks every mystery, plus accounts, student logins, saved progress and stars, and a teacher dashboard. There are two plans β€” Family and Classroom β€” billed per year or per NZ school term. See plans and pricing.

Learning to read too?

Kiwi123 has a sister site: KiwiABC β€” the same Kiwi Detective mysteries, but for reading, built on the Phonics Plus sequence used in NZ schools. One detective, two subjects.
